Happy National Child Day! We are very happy to have the City of Burnaby issue a National Child Day proclamation.
This Proclamation shows that the City of Burnaby supports the commitment to making Burnaby a place where children have an opportunity to develop to their full potential.
Thank you City of Burnaby!
National Child Day has been celebrated since 1993 as a way to honour the United Nations adoption of two documents based on children’s rights: The United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1959, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989.
The basis of these two documents is a commitment that echoes what every parent wants for their child – to ensure our children, our society’s future, are treated with dignity and respect, are free from harm, have their basic needs met and have every opportunity to reach their full potential.
